The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Tuesday approved 160 as the minimum cut off mark for 2019 admission into Federal and State Owned Universities.
A score 140 was set as minimum UTME score for admission into private universities. 120 was set for federal and state Polytechnic and 110 as minimum for admission into private polytechnic.
Despite these low figures, Candidates are not guaranteed admission. Candidates are therefore advised not to allow themselves to be used to shore up IGR for these institutions.
Candidates are to note that these low marks will only favour applicants into Education, Agricultural and very few biological courses.
Competitive courses like Medical, Engineering courses, Management Sciences, Law etc will still be out of reach for low score earners. There are Therefore advised to take advantage of the low cut off by considering Education and Agricultural Courses.
Candidates can also look in the direction of Affiliations. Most colleges or education have affiliations. They can explore these options for an education degree instead of writing another JAMB/UTME exam come 2020.
